I was inspired by the setting sun this afternoon and snapped off a few pics.

Spring Day Fun

Today was beautiful and warm in Atlanta. We had our neighbor's dog over for a "play date" with our dog. Here she is fetching the "flying squirrel." The quality is not that good because I took the video with my BlackBerry.

Cats and Dogs

Kiki and Gracie taking a nap

Apparently, our cat and dog didn't get the memo that cats and dogs aren't supposed to get along. Our cat, Kiki, loves our dog, Gracie. She grooms her. Runs to greet her in the morning. And likes cuddling up next to her. The pictures below show Kiki grooming Gracie. I've never seen anything like it. Even Gracie's best friend, Ava, gets along with the cat. Maybe our cat likes dogs. Or, maybe Vizslas are just great dogs. Or, maybe we just got lucky with a great dog and cat.

Texting Teen Style

This video is not sped up. This is how my teenage daughter texts--fast! Watch the technique and learn.

The video was shot on my Blackberry. Not bad, but I'm sure an iPhone would do much better.

BTW, this is my dog, Gracie. She likes to watch me while I blog.

Don't Mess with the Cat!

We have a little black cat named Kiki. She's adorable and a great cat. She loves our Vizsla, Gracie. She grooms her and jumps up to greet her--it's pretty wild. Earlier this week I noticed several times that while Kiki was outside, a gray bird--I think it was a mocking bird--would swoop down on her. The bird would kind of do dive bombs while she was on the deck or walking through the yard. Well, the other morning, I went out back to take the dog out. When I got down to the bottom of the stairs, I noticed Gracie sniffing something. I went over to look. All that was there was a pile of gray feathers. I think that mocking bird learned it's lesson--don't mess with the cat!

Remembering Cooler Days

It's hot as heck here in Atlanta. The other day, we reached a record high of 98 degrees. It made me think back to this winter when we got some snow here and we went out to play. Isn't Gracie's pink coat cute?

Chasing Rabbits

Well, actually, it was one rabbit. On Monday this week, I was getting ready to leave for work. I took our dog, Gracie, out back to tee tee. Gracie is a Vizsla (a bird dog). What was out back, but a bunny. Gracie spots it. She freezes. She points. She inches closer and closer. The rabbit does not move. It's hunkered down in the grass trying to be invisible. Gracie inches closer. I'm sure she's thinking, Hey, this has never happened before. No bunny has ever let me get this close! I'm going in!" Gracie gets within two feet of the rabbit, then pounces. The rabbit breaks free. The chase is on, but the rabbit must be injured because it's not running fast enough. Gracie is gaining--snapping her teeth. I'm yelling, "Gracie. Leave it! Leave it!" "No GRACE!" The chase continues. Grace is totally ignoring me. Grace goes for the neck. Whew, misses. Grace chases her all over the back yard. Finally, I come up with a plan to get a broom and try and skirt the rabbit out through the gate in the fence. I enter the chase. The three of us are running through the yard. Finally, I get the rabbit to go to the fence and I pin it there with the broom. I open the gate and attempt to push the rabbit several feet toward the fence. No good, the rabbit diverts and heads to the back of the yard. I run after it and get it pinned to the fence until we find a hole and after a few attempts, I push it through the hole. It's free. Go bunny and don't look back! Wow, what a morning. I arrive for work and discover I don't have my glasses. Great start to the week!
